When in doubt, group up on another skulk and draw fire so your wingman can bite his ass.

I'm down for anything from 5pm-10ish Central US.

I'm thinking maybe we should schedule a game or two sometime, to at least get some bodies on the server to stimulate traffic.

2012 Chevy HHR.  With a baby on the way, we needed something minivan-ish, and I wasn't about to get a goddamn minivan.

And a 1999 POS Mercury that's falling apart bit by bit.  Only kept it around to commute to school, and only keeping it around in case I get hired to teach.

One of the things I looked for when I bought the parts for this computer was the ability to play NS2.  Then I completely lost interest in playing NS2, alas.  Now about the only gaming I do on this thing is Google+ Hangout tabletop RPGs...

As long as we're whipping out the "I'm Old" rulers, I turn 41 in two weeks, and I only just got my college degree.  I'm old, and SLOW.

Well, just seeing that email got me to fire up NS2 for the first time in FOREVER.  Looking forward to being there.

Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I keep getting a warning that the server files differ from mine, and a disconnect.

« on: June 23, 2005, 07:00:24 PM »
I go thru books too quickly - sometimes more than one a day, if I decide that I just want to read on a day off (though that hasnt been lately).

Let's see, recently re-read the Riftwar books by Feist, the Amber books by Zelazny, the Chanur books and the Foreigner books by Cherryh, some ransom Trek books, the Thrawn trilogy by Zahn, random Discworld books, and Good Omens by Gaiman and Pratchett.

And several reefkeeping and marine aquaria books...

My biggest problem is that since I go thru books quickly, I want to read something that will be worth the 'investment' ... so I often end up rereading old books instead of getting new ones.

Looks good.  I wish Wil had gone more into generative content and procedural generation in gameplay in general more, rather than just showcasing his new game...

The spawncamping issue is why, I believe, 'building' hives got included in the no mines rule... if the hive is about to go up, then the rines come and plop down a mine on every spawn point, then the hive goes up...

...is it spawncamping?

Having to adjudicate issues like this are how rules like that come about.

L7 Nec/Mes, whee.  Having a lot of fun with that build.  My first character was a Mesmer/Ranger (doh) and I made the mistake of 'graduating' at 4th level.  Not good.

Right now my skillset is mainly built around Soul Barbs (hexes or enchantments on target cause an extra 15 dmg).  Send in the undead, Soul Barb, then pile on the hexes, baby!

But DAMN, I wish there were other ways to get places than by RUNNING.

(yes, I know about map travel.)

Did you reckon that some admins might have not read the thread or, indeed, posted in it? Or does that just blow your mind?

Well, in what passes for my defense, I generally just use the View New Posts button, which for some reason doesn't always give me all the new posts.  So I miss some stuff.

I voiced it in IRC, actually, back when the talk of zapping slots came up.  Somehow I seem to have missed the thread about it. :/

Anyhow~~ one sub-admin's opinion against everyone else's wouldnt have changed things, methinks.

We're already starved for good, quality slotters here. And The Admin Team has just booted two of the best and oldest that we had.

I really like esuna.  I was even against him losing his slot.  But I'm not sure I'd count him [or Sonic] in with the 'best' slotters we have - he can be rather petty at times...

I can recall one example that pretty much sums it up for me wherein he basically just annoyed and annoyed someone til they left the server, announced 'My work here is done" and quit.

Then again, I'm not exactly the best admin or slotter myself, but that's another story.

.. Also, as a side note, (no offense intended) i'd like to see the admins stop sitting in spectator. This makes me angry very frequently. The reason behind it is twofold. firstly, i see a lot of admins that come on and sit in spec on a full server. Understandable that you're trying to get an overview of whats going on, but dont just sit there. If you were alerted to solve a problem on the server, either spec/solve/leave or spec/solve/join up. Secondly, admins that sit in spec, generally do so for several maps or rounds, and do so at times where an extra player on a shorthanded team makes the difference between a decent game and a slaughter. So for the sake of obeying the rules, dont spec on a full server and dont spec when theres a team in need of help.

QFT.  Sometimes, it seems, some admins treat LM as couch potato fare.  You know who you are.

OTOH, sometimes an admin or two DOES have to hop into spec for extended periods, especially for hard-to-call issues... sometimes even requiring multiple admins (any suspicion of hacking I would have, I would definitely call in backup to spec and review, for example...).

I'm in IRC right now looking at the list of admins... and I dont see any that you can depend to see on the server at least once a day. Anyone can see that something needs to change here... its not necessarily because we dont like any particular admins, (though this isnt a false statement) its because we need some who can "do the admin duty"

Interesting.  I'm pretty sure I play =every= day.  Hell, I even played yesterday before going to the hospital.

Too bad you're not closer to Corpus Christi... once my new business gets more established I want to offer custom cabinetry for peoples' tanks.  ;)

My main successes so far have been in taking my best players, sticking them in one squad, and relying on them while using the rest of the smacktards for screening troops.

From what I understand, they're under fire from a distributed denial of service attack.
