Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park) and Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) are collaborating to produce an animated trilogy series based on stories and characters by Herge from the tales of Tin Tin.  Say the producers, "This will follow the characters exactly, and no, it won't be cartoonish."  The three feature-length films will be produced in full digital 3-D using WETA Digital's performance capture technology.

interesting to say the least...

one good friend [one of my closest "homies"] is 10-55 [dead] after a car crash last night. He was the producer for the music group. Not really into rap as much as he was into his neo-classical guitar. Another homeboy of mine who I consider more family than friend is in the hospital tonight as a result of an accident in which he wasn't at fault.

okay, so I have in my NSF clipboard a grip of quotes that I randomly change whenever I feel like it. The current one is one of the tops, it's off bash. The question is, how to change it so it doesn't take up so much space!

I was thinking putting it in a quote, or code box and setting it to the right of the sig, that way it reduces how much extra space it adds.

I figured it would be best to see if anyone else has an cleverness that I have overlooked, and I'm about to head to school so I can farm some replies in this thread.

oh since you here

I JUST BEAT HL DEUCE
It was |>\/\//\/
I rolled over to zerwalters house on friday, and spent the night. I started playing it around 4:30 Fri, got off at 2:30 am sat, got back on at around 2 pm, and just finished at 11 right now

random thoughts:
  • could have done a better job with the way that the car handled, it handled like ess.
  • where was that scene where you went thru the sewers with alyx and the combine grunt stops you and gets silent rocked from behind by the clear blue plasma type tendril type thing thing thing..
  • damn gunships and striders take way to many effing rockets to kill, and there really is no way to bring them down without them
  • physics were pretty awesome, I loved being able to pin soldiers to stuff with the crossbow
  • speaking of crossbow, leetest weapon evar, I love how it shot the molten rebar
  • Breen mentions that indeed gordons work is availabe to the highest bidder, and it is so how does that tie [if at all] the combine to the g-man and what relation do they have?
  • RAVEHOLM FTW, the screamer zombies were truly terifying, that scene where you can see them for the first time is on the roof doing the iori style lean back and scream then you see 4 of them jumping like 25 feet in the air to random spots. All you think is :( I'm going to have to fight them.
  • effing new quick headcrabs
zer is kicking me off his comp so I will come back sooner or later and talk about hl2 some more

anyone know what gives

muga in my avatar is exact same one as my sig, which is the same one you saw below this post, and is my current sig on NSF

anyone have any clues as to why it doesn't do the transparency corretly when set to my avatar?

side note: check out the thread, me and the moderator that had a discussion on sig / avatar size, some of them were agregious, I came across a 589x600 *avatar*  v_v I think the sizes we decided on were good, allowing people to still get decently creative with animation with a 250 - 300 kb limit on avas and sigs respectivly.

weigh in on the transparency issue, or the sig / ava size  :)

hafhaf, forgot I used the MD sig here, changed the post to reflect that

So after sorting all 9 of the pallets of computers that came in, now it comes time to build the CCE [special version of XP]

and these are the specs for the computers that are used for e-mail, internet, a couple proprietary programs, nothing intensive [hardcore gaming, compiling, editing etc]

this is the high end "hp dc7100"

convertable minitower chassis 3.4GHz/800 w/HT; 1gb DDR synch DRAM pc3200 400MHz (2x512MB) 160gb 72000 RPM serial ATA disk drive; no floppy and a 48x/32x/16xdvd/cdrw combo drive

this is the mid range "hp dc5000"

small form factor chassis; 2.8GHz/800 w/HT; 512mb pc2700 DDR333 DIMM, 80gb ATA/100 7200 rpm HDD, no floppy, 48x CDRW drive

the funny part about the HDD is that everyone has there own network HDD and your not supposed to save *anything* on your local HDD

except they do use a couple big programs [1gb+] like autocad, you could still have 20 gb hdd and never worry about running out of space.

GG gov?

"peep scene" on this if you have the time and the inclination [it's only 6.5 mb, but thats still an adventure if your repping the K]

it's from a group called sideways inc, apparently they had some footage of their boys working with dre in the lab, you get to see him flow to a couple of his songs, and they synced the real version to him spitting it in the studio. In the very end you can see him doing a song with the notebook and "errythang"  ^_^

Off Topic / TLM == NSF discussion forums for now
« on: December 18, 2004, 11:20:13 PM »
what up yall?

The NSF are still MIA so once again TLM gets to make due.

I've been following the Scott Peterson case cause 1) it was local 2) it was interesting and it's culminated with him being put to death for the murder of his pregnant wife and kid. If you do not know the background of this case google it and you will find loads.

I could care less if he is put to death, he probably is guilty as sin. However the part that I find disturbing is that they are putting him to death with no direct evidence whatsoever. I think that it sets a bad precedent. First off, if you have no concrete evidence how are you going to prove beyong a resonable doubt that he did it, and is there enough evidence to warrant putting him to death? He did get pretty villanized by the tabloids and the papers, enough to change the venue once, it would be hard to be in the jury and avoid coming to your own conclusion or do you own reasearch. One of the jurors got dismissed for researching the case on her own.

Still, the point that I want to discuss is putting someone [regardless of guilt] to death with no 110% reasonable doubt shattering direct evidence. I think that he should get life in prison because the implications of death with no direct link is startling and should be overrulled.

your thoughts?

almost forgot, when you in this thread, your inside the NS discussion forum. Same rules, same regulations, argue with your heart but be prepared prove it with your head.

While riding the water ski in the Canal levels, you come to a point where you fight a Combine Gunship before you can progress. After you destroy the gunship, look around that area and you will find two sewer tunnels, one of them has a grate which is ajar and you can slip through.
Sprint through the radioactive waste and exit through the hole in the tunnel to find a vorginaut with a sore throat. Talk to him many times to hear all he has to say.

Off Topic / Gangster rap Appreciation
« on: December 02, 2004, 06:10:36 PM »
well, I was going to make another post in slanguistics, but it vanished :o [vanished is the wrong word, I have a good idea what happened to it  :(  <_< ]

so you all get another thread  v_v

COMPLETION OF THIS THREAD WITH LISTENING TO THE SONGS WILL TAKE A LITTLE OVER 5-6 MINUTES, IF YOU WATCH THE TRIBUTE VIDEO IT TAKES ANOTHER 5:15, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME  :)

Architeuthis'[/color] thread served an excellent purpose, it enabled me to realized how alien it looks to people who have no clue what is going, so I'm going to continue building the base for a healthy understanding of Mac Dre, as I'm going to point out the creme dele creme of his songs.

THIS MUSIC *DOES* HAVE A PARENTAL ADVISORY FOR EXPLICIT LYRICS, IF YOU HAVE QUALMS ABOUT SWEARING DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT CLICK LINK, AND GO STRAIGHT TO OT
Track 12 is going to be our guinea pig, as it's a song I have just started "slaping" on a regular basis at work. Also notice the album cover

appreciating rap comes from two things: The beat [how the track sounds], and the flows [the verses themselves]

However, before we start with track 12, lets take a gander at something more familiar to the common square: Dr. Dre

you of know him right?

well besides being a rapper, he is mainly a producer. Track 10 is a very good introduction to rap because it's playable on the radio with very minimal editing, the flows are easy to understand [most people complaing about being unable to understand what they are saying] also the beat was made by Dr. Dre himself.

okay, so we've clicked track 10, and now we hear weird foreign sounding music.

First step: Pause, take in the beat
Step two: Nod your head to the beat, it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as it's syncronized to the "music" [track 10 is a good one becuase it's easy to feel the beat]
step 3: just listen

okay, after hearing the song, progess onwards into the land of no return by clicking on track 12

I personally like this beat, it hits hard. Especially when teamed with a decent subwoofer. The first voice you will hear is non other than Mac Dre.

Please complete steps 1 and 2 again

okay, after the first flow [which is good enough to warant listening to more of it] after the chorus we find ourselves in verse 2. Verse 2 is not mac dre, however it is one of his homies so bear with it [it's decent, but can't touch the first verse, which intern can't hang with the third]

Now comes the part about this song that made it go gold in my humble opinion

2:15 into the track the third and final verse hits, and Mac Dre just kills it ["killing it" means he stole the spotlight, did such a fantastic job it makes the rest pail in comparision, etc]

listen to this third verse several times, notice the "october can't be gone till november" I took me several days then I realized that it's basically a shout out to Wyclef Jean, who had a song [many years ago, it came out on tape] called "gone till november" execellent song, played with an acoustic guitar and sung decently, but it's a classic. Even thou it's a classic it's off topic.  I'm going to post the lyrics for the last flow, and what aspects of it that I enjoy. In the meantime, if you actually spent the time to go thru the song and listen to it, sit back, think for 30 seconds and find an aspect of the songs that you personally found enjoyable

If you have trouble understanding or comprehending what was said in one of the songs, give me a time in the track and I will clarify, or if you hear any slang you don't understand, post it as well, I would reference you to the slang list, but it's gone  :help:

The third time will be a charm because it's going to be the "healthy understanding of mac dre" with

~bio
~links to notable good tracks [streamed, of course]
~pictures of MD
~Links to several articles that go into depth about MD, like the 90's bank robbery fiasco, etc.
~other key factiods about him

I look forward to seeing you all in that thread, thank you for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to broaden your horizons

I will not tolerate any off topicness in this thread, or attempts to derail it. If you have nothing productive to say leave, and if you do say it, don't be suprised when I report it and it get's nuked.

[edit]
! <-- MAC DRE TRIBUTE MUSIC VIDEO, I just found it and it's set to the song "California Living" recorded in 91, but it has excerpts from other songs of his, including "to hard for the :Ding radio", and "I need an eight" to name a few, it also shows pictures of his album covers and is pretty informative when it comes to broadening the understanding of underground rap, I highly recommend you check it out

I'm 56.k but I can leave the downloads on at night if it's more than a small download

Local rap legend Andre "mac dre" hicks was shot to death in a drive by in Kansas city early sunday morning. Apparently he was headed northbound on 71 when a car pulled alongside the van and opened fire, the van careened across the divider and down a steep embankment, the driver then walked a mile to a convienence store and got help. Andre died as a result of bullet wounds, he was 34. He leaves is survived by a mother, his own record label, and a legacy. Why do the good rappers always get shot?

hokay,

I just got back from the eye doctor and apart from tweaking my prescription they checked for glaucoma and one other thing. Well to check the other thing they had to dialate my pupils, consequently all the white I on the screen is swimming / super bright [It's like someone cranked the gamma] and everything == fuzzy / blurry, not to mention viewing causes discomfort. I can browse the NSF becuase they are darker, but I'm about to throw in the towel for forumiting for today, which means no assured computer access until monday.

which leads me to my second bird: which one for avatarrrr?

So I was surfing these other forums and I came across this and it was so good I had to post it

Lemme break it down for those who can't fully grasp the situation

N1 has two diamonds up in his grill, both on top, and diamond cut on the bottom, moving to clockwise we see n2 has a bottle of hypnotiq [25$] which is usually mixed with a dark liquor [probably hen] to make "incredible hulk" he and n3 to the right are also obscenely high [look at the eyes] and n4 is also exhaling some chronic smoke, judging from the opacity of the smoke and the fact that they are black I'm willing to bet they are all puffing on a fat blunt.

First off, if you take one thing away from this thread take away the knowledge that this book is fantastic and well worth the read.

So my mom checked out bringing down the house from our local library and last night she said she was done reading it. So I took a thumber to the faec and instead of watching anime started on bringing down the house. I read it all last night and it was very well done, and the story is intriguing as hell. Moroever, the fact that these smart sumbitches actually pulled this S off makes it all the better

The guy who wrote it switches from present day to around 92 onwards as the scheme grew and grew. He handles the writing pretty well and the parts about them being in Vegas working the tables is the part that got enthused about the most. The writer also lays out the background to card counting and their specific signals before he jumps into the thick of it and uses the knowledge just imparted upon you to improve the book.

Has anyone else read it? What did you think? If you haven't read it, go out and pick it up and see if you can put it down  >:D

So I finally got my license, and after hunting thru the classifieds I finally aquired a snazy 1991 volvo 940 turbo which I bought on the 7th [it was a fantastic deal], it's now the 8th and the second time I drive it I manage to get distracted for that split second  <_< and I rear ended some guy in a truck, he has about a three inch drop on his bumper now, I'm missing my left headlight and buckled the hood pretty damn good. Thankfully no one was injured and I have a much more healthy respect for driving. I went and watched a video at my insurance company and it said "no matter if you have good intentions, or are a good driver, ^^ happens, you will get distracted for that split second and bang" which is exactly what happened  v_v

The engine didn't seem to be affected, just cosmetic apperance. It's going to cost an arm and a leg to get it repaired  o_O but since I'm missing a headlight it's totally illegal and needs to be repared, and if I'm going to fix that I might as well go all out and get it totally fixed. Looks like I'm lucky to have a mom who is willing to pay for the body repairs and let me pay her back, as I'm a broke jr college student with a little less that $500 to my name.

I've been pretty shaken from it, even thought it was minor. I still feel butterflys and jittery and when I got to the server room I couldn't stand the bright white light and had to turn it off and hide in the darkness. I think it's good that it happened the way it did and that no one was hurt. It's a fanstatic learning experience and I have a penance for doing things the hard way.

oh well

Thank you for your time and have a pleasant day
