Alright, so today I was driving home from class in the fast lane, going like 70 or something. This dude in a big beige gass-hog comes roaring up behind me and tailgates me for like, 5 miles straight.

So I'm like, hell no.

I change lanes, get right beside him, and just stare at him for a bit. He starts getting pissed, then I just point at him, then point at the road ahead, kind of mouth 'Lets go' to him.

He floors it. Hits 85 easy. I take my foot off the gas and hit 65, and stay there. Why, you ask?

Because every single day, there's a cop waiting at that precise spot. Said cop pulls out and pulls over Mr. "I have a huge truck and I like to ride people's bumpers with it." I wave to the guy on my way past him at a merry 65.

I'd call that a win.

Happy Easter everyone!

This may not mean a whole lot to the majority of you, but it's a big deal for a few of us on here. Regardless, enjoy the time with your families.

Praise Him and His glory.

LM-Map 2.0!!![/size]

Old Version, for lazy people without Google Earth.

The link above is a file called "Lunixmonster-00.KMZ," It's a list of everyone that you can load up in Google Earth and be all interactive and stuff.

It also takes 100% of the work off of me. If you want to add yourself to the map, follow the following directions:
YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADD YOURSELF IF YOU ARE ON THE OLD MAP, IF YOU WERE ON THE OLD MAP, OR IF YOU POSTED IN THE THREAD BEFORE. PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT DOUBLE ADDING YOURSELF. 2_OF_8, THIS MEANS YOU!
1) Download the latest lunixmonster.kmz. (From the latest post)
2) Open it in Google Earth.
3) Search for your home address or home town in the search box on the top left.
4) Right click the search entry right below the search box and hit "Edit"
5) Rename this entry to your name. Hit "OK," then drag it down into the "Lunixmonster folder.
6) Right-click the lunixmonster folder, and choose Save As, Save it as Lunixmonster-##.kmz. (WHERE ## EQUALS THE NUMBER BEFORE YOU PLUS ONE!)
7) Upload that file.

This way, my file lunixmonster-00.kmz gets added to, and gets saved as lunixmonster-01.kmz, and so on. This way, it stays current.

Off Topic / D&D!

Some friends of mine just got me hooked on D&D. Anyone else play? My favorite character so far is a klepto-rouge I named Garret. (Kudos to whoever gets the reference.)

General / New Game server?
« on: January 06, 2005, 12:59:32 PM »
I recently got served with 4mbit down, 500kbps up internet.

I know I ran ZP with no lag for 8 people on my old 2mbit line, so I can probably swing a server for most HL mods.

Now, I want to be able to maybe run something for this community. Possibly CS, DOD, or TS.

Any thoughts? LB, are you cool with my box being the unofficial LM kiddie server?

Alright, so a lot of you have complained about the little kids in the background whenever I'm shooting my mouth off.

The computer I use is in the family room of my house, and my mom does day-care in the mornings. Hence, little bastards running around behind my until around 5.

At night, you'll hear the TV, and see such shows as fear-factor and West Wing depending on who in my family is watching it.

So there. Lets not complain about the little bastards on my mic arguing about the N64. I have to deal with them too.

Off Topic / New Innovative Game Idea!

FPS. Everyone has a jetpack, a laser pointer, and a melee weapon.

There are stationary artillery pieces that can be used by players. They come in various sizes, firing different projectiles at different rates. (HE [big boom], Napalm [small damage/time to deal with transported pieces], AEGIS Chain gun [shoot down shells] maybe?)

Flatbed loaders can pick up arty pieces, and move them around. They must be un-deployed from the loader to fire.

Heavy lifting drop ships can pick up the smallest of the guns, and move them around.

Game play would revolve around inflicting a ridiculous amount of damage on the enemy base/power core. Players can move around wherever they want on the large map, and laser targets for their teammates in the big guns to take out. It would basically be a big 3d artillery game, of much fun. The guns would have to move around to get into a firing position on the enemy core, which means they would have to cover each other, fire on enemy targets, and move close enough to lay the hurt on the enemy base.

What say you all?

General / Oh How I Love This Server!
« on: August 13, 2004, 01:07:14 PM »
Ok, so I'm fading on top that big thing on top of port, still an egg, about 75% of the way through.

4 marines burst into the hive, and start killing everything in sight. One of them draws a bead on my egg, and is well on his way to taking it out, when HD jumps in front of ebnar's fire and takes half is pistol clip for me, dies, shortly before I pop out and can avenge him.

In all my years of gaming, I can count on one hand the number of times that a player has knowingly and willingly sacrificed himself for the good of the team, much less simply another player. This server rocks.

Mapping / Ns-mapping Concept Art
« on: August 04, 2004, 11:46:32 PM »
Right. So ns_caduceus is getting started again after a reformat (needed, I was using goddamn Windows ME)

Well, I need some concept art. The map is two ships actually docked together, one a mining vessel, the other a medical ship responding to it's distress beacon (OMG BACON).

If someone could sketch out the following locations in futuristic form, I'd love them forever.
  • ER/ Triage area, complete with medical equipment.
  • "Asteroid Recieving," Basically where chunks of ore are captured by the ship and transferred to the plasma cores for vaporization.
  • Hive Location: Plasma Cores ; This one is less needed, I have a good idea what it is going to look like... (Think DCD with fog, and hotter orange colors.)
  • Power Generators: This is pretty much the focus of the Igo, the mining ship. 4-5 exits, Center of the ship, 1 res node.
I'll have style tests for both of the ships later, but for now, here's a shot from the old Caduceus build:

Mapping / Ns_caduceus Redux
« on: July 02, 2004, 05:03:40 PM »
My ever-in-progress map, Caduceus, finally starts to take shape.

Two pics of marine start, Emergency Room Starboard.

Much love to LB for hosting.

I'll post a layout and a backstory when I get them both presentable.
