I just saw the H2G2 movie after re-reading all 5 books. It was pretty good IMHO. It wasn't amazing, and it could have been better, but I think it did a good job as far as making an enjoyable movie.

I play it because it works. The audacity of it is astounding; if you had told ANYONE that you were making a HL mod where one side was controlled by a commander and built buildings together and the other side was composed of evolving aliens who chose their own upgrades and could build their own buildings, all in the Half-Life engine, you would be laughed out of the room. NS makes me believe, for the time that I play it, that all those little mods out there with awesome ideas that make you go "There's no way they can do that" will actually do it. I was a (relatively) early fan of NS because for some reason I believed they'd pull it off; I play it often to remind myself that such amazing things can be done by people who aren't even getting paid.

Back in the 1.04 days, I had great success with sticking IPs right next to the wall where marines would get stuck as they spawned. It didn't help the team much, but it fostered obedience: those that didn't just type /stuck, and instead complained, got a firm talking to. "IF YOU COMMANDER WANTS YOU TO SPAWN IN THE WALL, THEN YOU HAD BETTER DARN WELL SPAWN IN THE WALL! GET IT SOLDIER?" etc. If your team feels like a team, then the eventual loss to the aliens will take longer.

Then goody; I've been around long enough. I'm posting because I don't fit in on the poll. I don't really care about FF or not. I think its nice that you really have to aim and that a skulk can leap through a squad and cause lots of deaths, but it's annoying to worry about biting someone when you're taking down an RT. Everything has been discussed at length already, and each side has more than enough reasons to win. So I say just leave it on; it's less work.

Keep in mind that the XBox 360 is going to be unveiled May 13th, and will probably be on sale by christmas. And it has more processing and graphics power than ANY desktop computer money can buy.
But remember that once that comes out, a normal XBOX gets super cheap. So just wait it out a few months.

This is my favorite joke on earth but lots of people don't get it. It's hit and miss I guess. The foum censors the last word, but it rhymes with "hit."
